Congress 2019/Canadian University Music Society Annual Conference
School of Music, The University of British Columbia
June 5th-7th, 2019
The CANADIAN UNIVERSITY MUSIC SOCIETY (MUSCAN) will hold its annual conference in conjunction with Congress 2019 from June 5th-7th, 2019, at The University of British Columbia School of Music, in Vancouver. The University of British Columbia acknowledges that we gather on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) people.
The theme of Congress 2019 is “Circles of Conversation”, showcasing creative critical engagements —in literature, visual arts, and music — with topics as diverse as sustainability, accessibility, global mobility, health, culture, and, of course, education. Particular attention will be focused by Congress on productive scholarly relations with Indigenous communities; as such, proposals oriented to aspects of this larger theme are encouraged but not required. With its Calls for Lecture-Recitals, Mini-Concerts, Scores, Papers, Sessions, Films, and Round Tables, the CANADIAN UNIVERSITY MUSIC SOCIETY aims to bring together scholars from a wide range of perspectives for a vibrant discussion.
